Since 1981 October has been adopt a shelter dog month. If you have been considering a new dog this would be a great time. If you currently don't need a new dog consider donating supplies to a local shelter or spend time helping a local shelter.

That's right- October the 29th is National Cat Day. This celebration began in 2005. Cats usually like solitude but find some time this day to give your cat a little extra attention. What's that? You don't own a cat??
